EMA JEAN is an artist, singer, songwriter from Montreal, Quebec currently living in Barcelona, Spain. Having grown up in a family of musicians in a household where music was constantly playing, she draws influence from a spectrum of modern and old school styles, especially jazz and folk. In 2003, Ema performed for the first time at the Wild Roots Folk Festival. She went on to perform regularly at Montreal’s renowned underground beatnik café, the Yellow Door Coffeehouse, where she spent a lot of time testing the waters of songwriting and developing as an artist. She has performed at venues and festivals in and around Montreal, QC. In 2015, she received first place in the Hudson Music Festival’s Young Songwriter’s Competition for her original compositions “Shallow” and “Be My Lover.” This year she played JetЛАГ Festival, an open-air Russian-American music festival in New York’s Catskill Mountains. She has also had the opportunity this year to play in Dallas TX, Barcelona and Sevilla, Spain.

Her first studio album, Solace, was recorded at Breakglass Studio in Montreal QC and released in the Fall of 2015. She has also released a compilation of interpretations of jazz standards over the last few years. Ema Jean is currently writing for her new project and performing in and around Barcelona. She performs solo and with her band. Recognized for her unique tone and experimental approach, she delivers soulful, unfiltered lyric in various languages.
